I am the poster boy for stem cell transplants in the treatment of multiplemyeloma. The median survival is three years and I am at four years and doing well. I take nothing for the cancer,described as in “near complete remission”, but several things to compensate for collateral damage from all the chemo — thyroid, hormone, anti viral, antifungal, etc. I can do almost everything I want to do, I just can’t stay at it as long.
