Individuals who have income which exceeds the standard may be considered for the Medically Needy program which allows them to either pay "excess" monthly income to the State or to accept responsibility for a portion of their monthly medical bills.

Utah Medicaid pays medical bills for people who:

Qualify for a category of Medicaid
Qualify based on income and family size (income standard varies depending on category)
Have limited assests (typically $2,000 for an individual, $3,000 for two persons, with $25
added for each additional person.) There is no resource limit for children up to age 6 and
pregnant women.
